ABOUT Harry:

He became interested in art by watching Bill Alexander and Bob Ross create beautiful landscapes and seascapes in the 1980's on PBS television. After watching for a few months, I said to himself maybe he could do that, so off to the art store he went. He bought all the stuff needed to paint including a can of turpentine with this on the label "It has a distinct odor " and he remembers sitting in the living room trying to paint his first painting. The smell stayed in the house for about a week and his painting looked like gray and white pyramids and green smudges for trees. Not only was Harry's painting a mess but his wife was hopping mad over the smell.

Well, being a persistent person Harry moved his painting stuff downstairs and painted about 3 paintings a day for six months and finally got pretty good at it. He sent a tape to Alexander Art and they made him a Bill Alexander Certified Instructor. The year was 1988. Shortly thereafter Harry was teaching seminars, demonstrating the Wet on Wet technique in malls, resorts and private homes throughout Delaware County. He has received letters from his former students that said they have gone on to win juried art shows and it gives him a great feeling of satisfaction to know that he has made a difference in their lives the same way that Bill Alexander and Bob Ross had made a difference in his.

Health problems have prevented Harry from painting in oils now, but he could not give up painting. So now he paints using a Wacom tablet and Corel Painter X.

He also believes that digital painting is the wave of the future. With programs like Painter X that employ natural brushes and painting techniques it's just like the real thing, but with even more tools for the artist to make wonderful works of art..

meArtist Statement

"A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself."
Abraham Maslow American Philosopher and Psychologist, 1908-1970

When you start to paint the first thing you get is new eyes the whole world becomes new to you, the way the light falls, the shape of things, I don't think I ever really saw the world until I started to paint nothing else can give this new vision to you...

When you are painting its impossible to think of anything else all you troubles just disappear.

It lifts your spirit and makes you think about the meaning of life.
It is something you will never totally master. Every time you pick up a brush you learn something new no matter how long you have painted.

Most of all there is nothing more satisfying than the act of creation. To start with a blank canvas and put your world on it and have other people enjoy it.
